E-Ink Art Frame — the printed part

A small printed insert that mounts a 13.3″ colour e-ink screen neatly inside an IKEA picture frame. This page is for whoever's doing the printing — what to print and how.

Note — the files are .3mf (not .stl). Every modern slicer (PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Cura, OrcaSlicer) opens 3MF directly — just drag it in.

Which file do I print?

screen_filling_4_pieces.3mf recommended The insert cut into 4 parts that lock together with dovetail joints. Designed to fit a normal-sized print bed. Yes. This is the one.
screen_filling_full_stl.3mf The same insert as a single ~30×40 cm piece. No joints to align. Only if your printer has a 300×400 mm+ bed (large-format). Most don't.
screen.f3d source The parametric Fusion 360 model. Lets you tweak inner dimensions, the mat opening, thicknesses/tolerances, or adapt it to a different frame. Not for printing. Only if a dimension needs changing.

Print settings

These are the designer's settings (Prusa MK4s). Nothing exotic — any well-tuned FDM printer will do fine.

Dovetail fit — the joints were a snug fit at 1:1 scale on the designer's printer. If your printer tends to over-extrude or the parts are too tight to slide together, apply XY size compensation of about −0.1 mm (a.k.a. horizontal expansion / hole-and-slot compensation) in your slicer. Don't scale the whole model — that throws off the frame fit.
